The short version. VolleyLlama has no account and no sign-up. Your matches, player names and settings are stored on your own devices and are never sent to us, because we have no server to send them to. The only information that leaves your devices is what Apple and our subscription provider need to work out whether you have VolleyLlama Pro and to process a purchase.
What stays on your devices
All of the following is stored on your iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. It is not uploaded to us or shared with anyone:
- Your matches: the score, every rally played, the date and time, and the match format
- The player names you type in
- Your settings, the language you chose, and the answers you gave during setup
- For matches scored on the Apple Watch, your average heart rate and active calories for that match
- A match in progress, which is also shared between the watch app and its watch-face complication on the same watch
- Your last known subscription status, so the app opens straight away
Matches you score on your watch, the live score while a match is on, and your language choice travel between your iPhone and your Apple Watch using Apple's own watch-to-phone connection. They go directly between your devices.
Deleting a match in History deletes it from that device. Deleting the app removes everything it stores on that device.
If you use iCloud Backup, your device's backup may include VolleyLlama's data, in the same way it includes other apps'. That backup is between you and Apple; we have no access to it.
Apple Health
VolleyLlama asks your permission to save workouts to Apple Health and to read your heart rate and active calories. When you score on the Apple Watch, VolleyLlama records the match as a Pickleball workout and reads your heart rate and active calories from it.
That data goes into Health on your device. VolleyLlama also keeps the average heart rate and calorie total with the match, so it can show them in History. VolleyLlama does not read any other health data.
Health data is never sent to us, to our subscription provider or to anyone else, and it is never used for advertising or sold. You can turn access off at any time in Settings, then Health, then Data Access & Devices, then VolleyLlama.
What leaves your devices
Your subscription
VolleyLlama uses RevenueCat to manage VolleyLlama Pro. Each time the app opens, it asks RevenueCat whether you have Pro and which plans to show. That request includes:
- A randomly generated identifier for your installation, which is not your name or your Apple Account
- The purchase and receipt information Apple provides, if you have bought something
- Basic device and software details, such as your device model, operating system version and app version
- Your IP address, which accompanies any request sent over the internet
RevenueCat keeps an anonymous record against that identifier, even if you never buy anything. We do not send RevenueCat your name, your email address, your matches, the player names you enter or any health data, and we cannot link the record to you personally. RevenueCat's own privacy policy is at revenuecat.com/privacy.
Apple
Apple processes your payment and applies its own privacy policy. If you have chosen to share analytics with developers in your device's settings, Apple may send us crash reports and usage statistics. Those contain technical information about the app and the crash, not your matches.
From time to time VolleyLlama may ask you to rate it, using Apple's standard rating prompt. Apple controls that prompt. We do not see whether you rated the app, or what you wrote.
If you email us
If you write to hello@madebydayo.co, we receive your email address and whatever you send. We use it to reply and to fix the problem. We do not add you to any list.
If you share diagnostics
The Send Diagnostic Logs option in Settings creates a short text with the app version, your device model and iOS version, whether Pro is switched on, how many matches are stored, and the time. It contains no player names and no scores. Nothing is sent until you choose where to share it.
Permissions VolleyLlama asks for
- Apple Health — to save your matches as workouts and to read your heart rate and active calories during them. You are asked when you first use the watch app or turn on Apple Health in Settings. Refusing it turns off the Health features, not the app.
VolleyLlama does not ask for your location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone or notifications. You can change or withdraw the Health permission at any time.
What VolleyLlama does not do
- There is no account, sign-up, login or email address to give us.
- There is no advertising and no advertising identifier.
- There is no analytics or telemetry SDK in the app. The only third-party code in VolleyLlama that uses the internet is RevenueCat's purchase library.
- VolleyLlama does not track you across other apps or websites, and does not ask for permission to.
- We do not sell, rent or share personal information. We hold very little of it to share.
Children
VolleyLlama is a sports scorekeeper and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, of any age.
Your rights
Your matches and settings are on your devices, so you can look at, change and delete them there yourself. If you live somewhere that privacy law gives you the right to access, correct, delete or move your information, those rights apply to anything we hold, and you can write to us to use them.
The one thing we may hold is the anonymous subscription record at RevenueCat. If you want it removed, email us and we will tell you what we find and ask RevenueCat to delete it. Because the record is anonymous, please include the Apple order number from your purchase receipt so we can find it.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what VolleyLlama does with your information, the date at the top of this page changes, and the updated policy is published here before the change ships in the app.
